Making Strides of Westchester Walk

Updated: Oct 22, 2023

Attention to all students who want to support breast cancer research: there will be a walk happening at Manhattanville College this Sunday on October 15 at 9 a.m. If you can attend, wear pink to show your support. According to www.cancer.org, wearing this color “honors survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and to support the progress patients are making to defeat breast cancer.”

The American Cancer Society cites statistics indicating that the probability of developing breast cancer (which has the highest chance of occurring out of all cancers) from 2017-2019 was 12.9%. Along with that, from 2015-2019, the number of incidents for breast cancer (per 100,000 people) was 128.1, which is also the highest on the list. Given these statistics and facts, it is estimated that in the year 2023 there will be 300,590 new cases of breast cancer. That would be the highest estimated cases for any type of cancer this year.

If you want to join in raising awareness for breast cancer, please attend.
