It’s the time we’ve all been waiting for! WPHS Theatre has officially announced this year’s musical as "Fiddler on the Roof." The play follows Tevye, a poor milkman in Anatevka, who attempts to maintain his Jewish culture and religion despite his daughters’ plans to marry for love instead of by arrangement. The story captures romance and family struggles in a changing Russia, while touching on themes such as love, community, religion, and freedom. Isabel Hoch, a WPHS senior taking part in this year's show says, “The theatre program at WPHS always picks interesting and exciting shows. 'Fiddler on the Roof ' is a classic and has some universal themes regarding family and tradition that everyone can relate to.”
As in previous years, "Fiddler on the Roof" will be a WPHS production to remember. Senior Olivia Perretto says, “WPHS theatre lets us give a show life of our own while bringing performers together and giving us the chance to learn from each other. Friends are always made throughout a show, and I’m very grateful to be a part of it and to graduate with the memories I couldn’t have made anywhere else.” More than anything, WPHS theatre is a family who shares the passion of bringing a story to life.
Make sure to look out for further details and updates about this year’s musical. Our very own theatre program will showcase their hard work and talent on the first weekend of February. You definitely won’t want to miss this!
