White Plains Golf is on Par for Success

By Judah Goldemberg

On May 20th, the Tigers sent two exceptional golfers to the Section One Championship, held at Century Country Club in Harrison, New York. Junior Mario DeMaria and Sophomore Robert Partenheimer were ranked top 60 in the Section and earned a bid to the championship. Additionally, Junior Captain Lev Glazman missed the cut by a minuscule 0.1 stroke.

DeMaria, a hockey standout, transferred back to White Plains this spring after spending the fall and winter at Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) Hockey Academy in Alberta, Canada. DeMaria immediately made his presence felt on the course, posting low scores of 37 and 38 this regular season.

Rob Partenheimer was also key for the Tigers this year. The sophomore had a stellar regular season, shooting a low score of 37.

At Sectionals on Monday, DeMaria shot a 91, and Partenheimer shot an 88. Although their playoff performances did not earn them a bid to the next round, the two showed potential for the future.

White Plains Varsity Golf plans on bringing back more than eight returning golfers for the 2025 season. Coach Behrends and the entire golf team are excited for what lies ahead.
