Toys for Tots: There's Still Time!

By Cristina Damato

Attention students! The Key Club and NHS are collaborating to collect donations for Toys for Tots this year. Toys for Tots is a program run by the Marines that collects toys, books, and games (especially around the holidays) and donates them to children in need. Last year, they distributed 24.4 million toys to 9.9 million children!

Mrs. Woodward, WPHS’s Key Club advisor, has been collecting toys at WPHS for 15 years. Her journey with Toys for Tots began years ago when she and her husband donated toys at the Scarsdale Police Station. Now, around 300 donations are collected from White Plains High School alone!

To donate to this amazing organization, drop off new toys, books, or games for any age group in either Mrs. Woodward’s room (B123) or Ms. Simmons’s room (C126). Your donations should not be wrapped – the gifts go to a location where kids can look around and pick what they are interested in. You can also donate gift cards and have somebody else do the shopping for you. Don’t miss this opportunity to help a child in need this holiday season!
