The Muslim Student Association Group

By: Alisha Ahmed & Mila Hossain

The Muslim Student Association was formed last year to foster an environment that is welcoming and supportive of Muslim students. The objective of the MSA is to educate non-Muslims on the false stereotypes and stigma that are directed toward Islam and to give Muslim students the confidence to present their religion and be unapologetically Muslim. This is especially important in light of the widespread hatred and misrepresentation of Muslims in the media. The group enables students to feel at ease when they express their ideas about various events and activities that could create a better atmosphere for Muslims.

The Muslim Student Association's plans for the 2022–2023 academic year are to collect donations for the White Plains Mosque, inform our WPHS peers about Ramadan and Eid, and volunteer at the mosque to assist those in need. The MSA hosted a bake sale on November 17 after school intending to raise money for the White Plains Mosque. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the mosque.

The MSA plans to hold a fundraising henna event at the Holiday Bazaar on December 22nd. Several of the club members will apply henna for five dollars per hand.

Meetings are held every Thursday after school in room A121 from 2:30-3:00. The remind code is @dbk79b4. Everyone is welcome!
