Spring Sports Teams Stick Together Though They're Apart

By Sophia Alexandrou

White Plains High School’s spring sports seasons have been canceled as a result of the worldwide shutdowns caused by Covid-19. However, this unfortunate turn of events has not stopped the Tigers. Through all this, they have continued to work hard and stay a grounded community.

The coaches of our spring sports teams use apps like SportsYou and Remind in addition to social media to keep in touch with their athletes. These apps allow them to give their athletes workouts to stay in shape or drills to practice at home and keep their skill set sharp. They are also good outlets for the coaches to spread positive messages to their teams through these difficult times.

There are also efforts to honor the seniors who will not get the opportunity to have their Senior Night this season. The Athletic Department is working on creating a video to celebrate those senior athletes who are graduating this year. In addition, regarding the sports awards, the Athletic Department is discussing options for the spring season. This was done via video for the winter sports teams.

Even though they won’t be able to play this year, these sports teams continue to make their mark. Coach of the Boy’s Track and Field Team, Coach Furry, says that his team has written letters to thank hospital workers. The White Plains community continues to show that they can get through anything and will be more than ready to step back on that field come next Spring!
