By Daniel Reynoso and Nayaris Lasso The Latino Coalition Club is comprised of multilingual students and staff who focus on giving back to the community in any small way that we can. We are very excited about the start of our club meetings and our work for this school year. We would love to have new members that will help us achieve our goals for this next year. As a member of our club, you will have community service opportunities and will be able to help newly arrived students from Latin America adapt to their new environment. Some of the projects that we did last year were:
Assemble backpacks with school supplies for newly registered White Plains students
Fundraised by hosting a Gingerbread House competition
Collected and donated diapers to families in need
Volunteered at El Centro Hispano food distributions
Helped new students on their first day of school
If you would like to know more about our club and what else we have done, please don’t hesitate to speak with any of the representatives of the club. We would love to help you in any way we can. To join the Latino Coalition Club please enter @latinocoa on Remind. Our meetings start at 2:45 PM in room A216. Our next meetings are on the following dates: October 26th, November 9th and 22nd.
