Kidney Cells, Brain Cells in Disguise

Kidney cells have a remarkable superpower: an ability to heal and repair themselves fast. But recently scientists have discovered that the kidneys' power extends tremendously in regard to their memory. While this isn’t the same type of memory we associate with the brain, such as like recalling what happened last Tuesday, it’s still a fascinating feature.

Biologically, the kidney cells respond to chemicals in the brain which are connected to the mind, triggering the mind's workflow and the body’s movement. The kidney cells in general are used in filtering waste products from the blood, and along with their memory function, they are exciting in the field of neuroscience.

So why does the idea of kidney cell "memory" matter? If kidneys can “remember” how to preform tasks, could it mean that they’re more resilient and capable of handling challenges without needing as much external support? This discovery gives us hope for understanding the full potential of kidney function and its relationship to the brain.
