WHITE PLAINS-This upcoming season, the White Plains Varsity Hockey team is hoping to have another stellar season following last year's success. The Tigers finished a historic season with an overall record of 16-5-1. With the loss of 8 seniors, including former captain, Dan Cardozo, and alternate captains, Jason Monte, and Justin Esposito, the Tigers look to new leadership.
This season, the Tigers are led by senior captain, Harley Formica and alternate captains, George Snyder and Joey Kittelstad. I spoke with Formica about his thoughts for the upcoming season. Formica stated, “We’re coming off one of the best seasons in White Plains’ history. We have a lot of young players and a first-year goalie. But you will see a lot of heart in this team, and that is all you need. It’s gonna be a hard year but we are gonna shock a lot of people.” Formica is confident about the season and believes fans will recognize and appreciate the dedication on this team.
I also spoke with Snyder. He commented, “I think we have our struggles skill wise, but we all work hard on and off the ice and I think it will show throughout the season.” Snyder expressed that the team will really get going as the season gets into full swing.
The Tigers' first game is Wednesday, Nov. 23 at Ebersole Ice Rink against Carmel.
