Advocates for the Earth To Hold Virtual Event

By Eva Mandelbaum

From icecaps melting at a frightening pace to a multitude of natural disasters, it is no secret that our planet needs our help. As the younger generation, it is our future that is at stake, so we must make a change. You may feel as though there is nothing you can do to help the climate crisis, but this is simply not true. One person can make a difference. At a recent Advocates for the Earth meeting, an example proving this point was mentioned: an environmental activist and forestry worker from Majul named Jadav Payeng single-handedly planted an entire forest!

The Advocates for the Earth Club at White Plains High School is welcoming any student with an interest in discussing important environmental topics to attend our virtual discussion pertaining to an episode from the Netflix Documentary Series “Our Planet.” Focused on this chilling, fascinating, and inspiring docuseries episode, our virtual discussion will cover topics such as the biodiversity of the planet and how it contributes to our survival and wellbeing, how we are all interconnected, and ways we can raise awareness and make change on both a smaller and larger scale. All are welcome!

Please visit the attached link to watch the episode of Netflix’s “Our Planet” prior to the event in preparation for the discussion with peers about the video, the climate crisis, and possible changes we can make to our own lives, to the White Plains High School community, and to the world: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfO-3Oir-qM&ab_channel=Netflix

The discussion will take place on Friday, November 20th at 3:00 via Zoom. Here is a link to the form: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=NWR-cSJaV0ed1Mnbi38ADvKPXosm6olFpqS8-GdF88xUOUJBRzdWUVFFR0JQT1RCQThPU09FOUpZUi4u

Make sure to include your email in the designated box. The Zoom link will be emailed to you prior to the discussion. Try to bring a friend, and on behalf of Advocates for the Earth at White Plains High School, we look forward to seeing you there.
