Academic Team Cruises to a Strong Finish

by Sam Keegan

The doors of WPHS may have closed for the year, but many of our school's clubs have continued to thrive. The Academic Team was able to make the transition to virtual competition as they have been a part of seven meets over the past few months. Advised by science teacher Mr. Larson, the team was able to practice remotely allowing for more even practices then they have had in the past due to the cancellation of other activities.

The Academic Team won their first virtual match against Biotech A. Although they may have lost their second match to Edgemont in the semifinals, they finished the season with an impressive 7-1 record. Mr. Larson said, “I’m super proud of this team. They were very enthusiastic and picked right up where they left off in school.” This dedicated and confident team was led by the following graduating seniors: Olivia Duvanich, Eytan Hazi, Keren Hazi, Uriel Korin, Isabelle Lugo, Lily Nguyen, Natalie Pedi, Matthew Salonich. Great job Academic Team!
